Frequently asked questions

When is an immediate termination possible?

When there is good cause that makes continuing the contract unreasonable for you – for example serious breaches by the other side despite a warning. The standard is strict. State the reason as concretely as possible, with dates.

Why does the template also include a fallback ordinary termination?

In case the good cause is ultimately not accepted, the contract should still end at the next regular date. This “fallback” termination prevents you from being left with no termination at all if the immediate one is found invalid.

Do I have to send a warning first?

For continuing obligations a prior warning or deadline is often required before you can terminate immediately – unless it is dispensable. Check this for your case; when in doubt, document the history in the reason field.

How should I send an immediate termination?

Verifiably, because timing and receipt matter: by fax with a transmission report or by registered mail. Keep the proof together with the signed PDF.
